Oh, no. How are Lucy and Ethel? And, how are the birds you were documenting and their babies?
Usually by now there would be a lot of cicadas in my area, screeching for love. In recent weeks, it was warm to hot (cicadas started), then hard, drenching rains (cicadas that were out, were gone).
There are some cicadas about, but not many. If the cicada population doesn't quickly rebound it's going to cascade through to everything that depends on the yearly cicada bonanza for food. I've already noticed fewer cicada hawk wasps, and the ones I've seen did not have successful hunts.
