Something I like to remind myself in tech but especially while I'm building here on nostr, is this:
Social media and internet-based communications, are not essential for human existence. What I mean, is while tech has improved the world and become "essential" we as humans can and would find a way to work, live, and thrive without it like we've done throughout history. It's a reminder that many professions have real-world ties to the work they do. Not all problems need to be solved with technology and not everyone gets the opportunity to step away from "real-life" to try to improve upon luxuries of life with computers. And I think that's all I mean, what we're building on used to be an expensive luxury, which has only been cheaper from "subsidies". I think this could largley be applied elsewhere, maybe baking and so on.
I think it is a privilege (and a risk too) to be able to be able to build with much of ideological motivation many/most of us have for freedom, sovereignty, liberty, and decentralization. The ability to continue and even get paid to, is a blessing.
This is not cynicism, I'm quite optimistic, but I want to remain grounded at this point in my life. I do not speak for other builders, only myself.
