I think it's possible to diy night vision goggles. Not like buying the tube and then powering it, but actually building the amplified totally from scratch with mostly common or recycled materials. Yet, I can't find a single person actually doing it.

Probably a "why bother" kind of situation. If someone really wanted it they'd be better off buying it than some diy nightmare, but I wonder why no one has an example, as far as I can find.
