you 're right... hadn't thought of that (my MQTT broker at home sits on my IoT VLAN and accepts non-encrypted traffic because it's just too much vor some of my low-end hardware)
But I have now progressed further in the podcast and learned that OwnTracks also works with plain HTTPS and basic auth, so maybe I should have another look at it 😉
