UPDATE: The painter arrived, and - guess what, her husband is a car mechanic and has done work on head gaskets, so she's going to ask him for a price. I am hoping the dodgy car dealer will cough up some money towards that bill (but who knows?)
Also, another of my big worries, our skylight windows - Nikki is going to get up there on the roof and repair and clean them!!
