Lots of reasons. This is actually something Kyle :att: (npub1d7f…0t5d) and I really want to do, but we need someone to help us with various things.

But it gives you full control of things, you can do a lot of things by self hosting, especially if you fully host it yourself, compared to being on an instance you don't run/own.
