Some apps allow you to edit and delete. But it's not implemented in all apps, because it's hard to implement across all of Nostr since it's decentralized. We like to joke and say there is no edit and no delete. You can do it, but only a small fraction of people will see the edit, because only one client supports edits, and delete only works 99% of the time, because you can't force delete things from people's local apps.
