Rheristies (npub1lyr…pjx6) :afire: Third Man :afire: (npub1mln…nchm) DeadKennedy (npub1853…3m79) There was no 50% devaluation: there exist like 5 different exchange rates for the peso created by the commies that left power in December. The "official rate" was nowhere near reality and Milei adjusted it closer to its actual value. I.e.: every time someone buys dollars, it causes inflation. Now it will cause less. Also, you could not get more than $250 dollars a month at the official rate. It was a big lie.
The extreme inflation of January is the consequence of Massa printing the entire monetary base in six months to finance his campaign for president. The extreme poverty is just another consequence. Pensioners are getting paid according to the previous administration's payment plan, which Milei tried to reform in January but the left shot it down. Until and unless congress gets a libertarian majority in 2025, this will continue to happen.
Alberto Fernández took office in 2019 with a 1 USD = 60 ARS and left three months ago with 1 USD = 1300 ARS. Milei is not magic (though Caputo managed to get the peso to 1 USD = 1000 ARS this week) and he warned 2024 would be hard for everyone if he won, as things get fixed. His prediction for over a year is things will improve by mid-2025.
The author of that article is either ignorant of everything that went down just three months ago or simply dishonest.
Either way, I wouldn't take anything that person says about our economic situation seriously based on that report.
