I think something abled people are having difficulty grasping is that the *appearance* of health is not "health"; it's a masking effort by the chronically ill to avoid exclusion. Now it's too burdensome to be worthwhile, resulting in millions of people who are long-term sick to "come out" of the closet.

But the abled person sees this not as revelation, but as *psychosis*; something wrong "in the mind" not the body. Because morally, they cannot rationalize their behavior if it's true sickness.
