Even with 'widening participation' policies in place across the sector, university remans an engine for solidifying class advantage.

You might want to argue that people from poor(er) backgrounds need to adjust the aspirations, or perhaps be happy with vocational training, but I think anyone who wants to go to university should be able to, and I don't believe the aspirational gap is this large!

University is even more valuable for those whose life chances are constrained
