Forget it, that didn't work. I kept getting more 'Note not found' messages, both in Yakihonne (desktop), Primal and in Amethyst. And load times became slower. I've now added back 11 additional free, public relays. But that raises the question of what the benefit of paid relays is at all, if they can't run alone without public relays.

My paid relays are nostr.wine, Azzamo (with inbox relay for messages) and Yeghro.
