I disagree that #Uber drivers should be classified as employees instead of contractors. To me, the whole point of being a gig worker is that you're free to work simultaneously for as many different companies as you like (Here, Uber drivers are very often also Mr D drivers and Bolt drivers), and also, if you choose not to open your app one day because you don't feel like working, nobody really cares. That kind of freedom wouldn't be something I'd easily give up, if I were them.
However, this article about lack of transparency and terrible driver earnings really is eye opening.
