I'll also repeat my mantra that if you don't have managers* in the NHS then you get clinical staff managing car parks, ordering desks, procuring IT systems, and organising building repairs.
Would the Mail rather have clinicians do clinical work, or clerical work?
*It was recently pointed out to me - quite correctly - that much of NHS management is truly administration. It's become unfashionable to be an administrator, everyone must be a manager!
