Yes, "Big Battery" is focused on selling those big new battery proprietary bikes. They break fast, and sent easily repairable. The major e-bike consumer business in north America is mostly so bad. They want to create a whole new market to sell more new bikes, more parts, and less old repairable bikes. It sucks, sorry it's keeping you from what you want!
Seconding the other reply I saw suggesting looking into a conversion on an analog bike that you like. This will also give you a bike that's less proprietary and easier to work on yourself/replace with regular bike components. It will also be more customisable (change the handlebars, pedals, etc) to suit your needs. Failing that I bet if you look for some e-bikes that resemble a "normal" bike (standard wheels, standard frame, as many standard parts as possible, usually just a drive built into the crank, a battery attached, and a control computer on otherwise standard handlebars).
Sorry for this long reply I just really hear you on the bad state of the e-bike market. It doesn't have to be this way!
