Working in a school has made me realise just how much of science is just learning the language. We were introducing amplitude and frequency in (sound) waves, basically trying to show that amplitude=volume and freq=pitch. We should be pointing out all of the (mostly) Latin/Greek/Arabic root words as we use them, chromo, hyper, hypo, neuro, astro etc etc etc.
