I'm not entirely convinced that reading a book is any better than scrolling through Instagram reels. The result of both are quite similar: You've been entertained, but nothing about your life has really changed. Both have you absorb stories in a daydream-like trance where you're immobile and unaware of your surroundings. Storytellers have always been influential. The evidence for this goes quite far back. Imagination is so powerful that people commit suicide over the imaginary concept of money.
