You're very right, I could host all of this on a single box, but I'm uncertain if you can compare. We're a semi-large instance hosting ±30k people and are running everything in a high-available manner. I'm not planning on giving up those characteristics, and I'm fine with paying for them. They provide me with stability & sound sleep, and I can't understate the importance of that when you're managing something on a voluntary basis.
