I worked at a place like that, couldn't move forward because I wouldn't play beach volleyball or go kayaking with them. Then, every year, there was a killing season when they'd have a firing spree and turn on their employees just like a dysfunctional family, Kronos devouring his own children. It was quite a surprise to the volleyball/kayaking crowd when some of them got laid off. Fuck that participation award shit. Give me a 3 martini lunch at a strip club with the boss instead of all this other dumb family shit.
