All #nostr DMs are publicly visible. However, since they are encrypted, they can only be read with your or your chat partners private key. If one of the two keys gets leaked, the full chat history is visible to the public. Since you do not have any control over the key management of your chat partner, you should be very cautious what information you share via DMs!
