I think substantial cuts to the budget should be made, but it's a matter of where you cut from. I wouldn't want to slow down some programs like drones, missile defense, hypersonic, space, etc.
I think there are a lot of cuts we can make to our armor combat systems, they seem redundant to me. I also think the naval fleet is not very efficiently deployed and we could project the same power with a downsized fleet.
Overall I think US military spending is too high, but I don't think that right answer is to go to zero either.
