It can be intrusive though. Sure it may not "read" your thoughts like we can read a YouTube transcript but the correlations are all it needs. By pairing a stimulus (what we see, hear etc) with our eeg response, enough recordings are enough to understand how individuals will respond for a given situation. Thats exactly how social networks work with their advertising - post/ad as stimulus and recording the gyroscope scrolling speed watch time like frequency etc. The correlations are enough to model and predict our actions. In this case its literally with our brain activity. For anything like this to take off there absolutely needs to be guarantees that the information is not being sent to some server for microtarged advertising. Open Sourced hardware and software paired with privacy analysis is needed for me to trust any of this.
