ActivityPub is open and federated, and these attributes are important enough to outweigh its (current) relative deficiencies, both technical and social. Any walled garden, however idyllic, becomes a prison.

Sacrificing freedom for convenience is problematic. Sacrificing freedom for a brief period of convenience followed by endless exploitation is stupid.
