The hero, also known as the savior, and it is an essential aspect of the 'star system' that we, in the Occident, inherited from sacred books. We are so much feed the idea "YOU CAN!", meanwhile the role, and actual impact of groups is downplayed, or worse, portrayed as strong evil (and sometimes it is).
The one is also very visible in entertainment culture with stories such as superman.
IME, recently, that is changing. Stories where a diverse group is making the show, where we really can't tell who is the first model, we only have our favorite.
It is even more dramatic that society nurtures that “lone wolf self-made super hero pilot” image in cases where it is documented 100% that the "prophet" is a made-up representation for marketing purpose (dear president?). In hip hop, it is linked to authenticity, and a hip hop artist must write their lyrics.
In my experience, the prevalence of the star scheme is arming our culture, especially since it shadows, then makes invisible the importance of getting together, doing things together to make "we" stronger.
The fact that the representation of the Muslim prophet is forbidden, IN MY OPINION, is working toward a hero-less society; another instance taken from Islam is the absence of equivalence of Pope.
In the far east, they have the same idea summarized by: "A leader is best when people barely know they exist, when their work is done, their aim fulfilled, people will say: we did it ourselves." attribute to Lao Tzu.
On my side, and related to programming activity: I am very much looking to joining a #convo. It might not look like it.
There is no trivial next step in a chaos system.
It appears to me that the pursuit of happyness^W physical, money, and psychological security are feeding the star system. It might as well be a chicken, egg problem.
Thanks.
