"content": "ELTs are 121.5 MHz IIRC. The problem is that they don’t activate reliably in the event of a crash because most use inertia in one axis to turn on a switch. We have so much better technology now, but ELTs are stuck in the era of tail fins and beehive hairdos. \n\nMaybe this pilot died on impact, but taking 12 hours to find the a/c and effect rescue is absurdly bad.",
