npub1cuscsrz6efq99ptktk26x58v4yqy9y46ytp8xw4rjjwq0wlt6znst66789 (npub1cus…6789) America is very divided right now, and it has only ever been this divided two other times in history, the Revolution and the Civil war, right now it is divided because of the very same or similar reasons it was then, cultural, political and economic differences. The Confederate States never signed any treaties with the US, so actually it is still occupied territory, most people that live in states that were part of the Confederacy still want lower taxes just like they did in the 1860’s. The majority of men that fought for the Confederacy did not own slaves and were not fighting to keep slaves, they were fighting for lower taxes, better trade deals, and to keep their land. Anyone that doesn’t see the similarities between the reasons for the revolutionary war and civil war and the current divisions is either uneducated or just blind. In my opinion, the US should have let the Confederacy go peacefully, it was not about slavery, slavery was on the way out anyways due to the invention of mechanical harvesters, the vice president of the Confederacy actually said that to the union congress. The government is so corrupt now the only way to solve the current problems would be to have a convention of states and succede from the union.
