This morning I pushed a young university student out of a snow filled parking lot. He had no idea what he was doing, just gunning it and creating ice. As i approached asking if he needed help he said yes, and that he was stuck there for 20 minutes.
As I pushed I was trying to give him advice on how to get unstuck yourself. Things like turn your wheels, rock back and forth, don't gun it, just ease on, go in lower gears.
When I was his age I had been taught all of these things, and experienced them as well.
It just made me think, is this a one off, or are we failing our children so baldy that we aren't even teaching basics of winter driving?
