The IMF, which had faded out of the news cycle, all of a sudden was back, "bailing out" governments in Egypt, Ghana, Pakistan, and elsewhere as local fiat currencies devalued against the $ and as the dollar-denominated debt these governments owed suddenly got much more expensive
