The old games always used the minigame to express mood/emotion/story. I don't know what this one is doing as I havent played myself, but it sounds like it goes through the motions while forgetting the art of plot and feeling.
Definitely went from pick up now to bargin bin pickup for me. I'm curious how badly they botched it, but it will be a design research buy now.
