Few problems I can outilne:
1. The nostr design itself. The data sits on the server. Look at yggdrasil public peers. Now that is relaying. That has insignificant cost and even somd companies have no problem hosting a node alongside their business infra. Data is big responsability no one is willing to take for free.
2. The problem it tries to solve. Nostr userbase is living proof humans don't give two shits about censorship, privacy, "my data is not for sale" mantra.
3. Nostr community. Man this is not a welcoming community. Sorry but this one is true. Many of core people have 0 soft skills. Although there is a small network you still feel alone. There is a constant mockery towards normies being called dummies. Not all people are tech savvies. The constant yammering about bitcoin, own you money, don't pay taxes, fuck the state...blah, blah.
4. The way of doing things. "Oh you talk, but what have you build?" I heard that 100s of times. Build, build, build. Nooo. Stop that. Ppl built relays in all possible languages. Ppl built a shit tone of clients which do the same thing. Devs produced tone of code and tech instead of products. Damus is only one left but I feel like it is its own product. It just happen to be on nostr, if tommorow Will will switch to plain webapp no one will notice or give a fuck.
5. Improvement Proposals. These are straight up crap. Look at how many forks these things caused on other systems. These are the biggest reason of conflict. These are not simple. And if you think in real life at most basic stuff, humans have a very small surface of agreement (for a miriad of reasons ofc). That is why we have 10s of door knobs, 100s of car bodies, fuck even toillete sits. All have a small surface of agreement and serve the same purpose but built differently. Nostr should have stopped at nip1
