Does your tongue have a coating on it ?😛
In Ayurveda, we evaluate the tongue to determine if there is ama (Sanskrit word for toxins) in the system. Generally, if the tongue has any type of coating (i. e., It's not pink), you have ama.
Ama is the root cause of many diseases. It sticks to tissues, organs and veins. It accumulates and eventually can cause inflammation or blockage.
So it's best to clear out ama as soon as possible to avoid more complex health issues down the road.
To determine best way to eradicate ama, we can connect ama location to points on the tonge. Similar to how acupuncture has points on the body that are associated with various meridians and organs, Ayurveda also maps out body locations to organs.
The diagram below indicates which organs are associated with places on your tongue. For example , if you have a coating on the back of the tongue it's likely ama is accumulating in your colon.
Fresh Ginger tea or pranyama exercises can be a quick home remedy for ama. But if it sticks around, consider seeing an Ayurveda practitioner.
Happy to read your tongue if you drop a picture in the comments 😉
