Part of the problem is that in the west we've spent the last two hundred years breeding sheep for meat, and consequently the wool quality has reduced; we're going to have to reverse that.
But ancient breeds – Shetland, Manx Loaghtan and others – still produce fine quality wool. And Merino, of course!
