This is so cool. As an east coast kid who moved west, I think of cicadas as an eastern and midwest thing. But the western US actually has more species of cicada, about 80 just in California.

Really nice piece from Anton Sorokin at Nat Geo. And another reminder, if you see a bug, and you can get a picture, put it up on iNaturalist. You never know what you might find.
