It serves a beat-sweetener function if Haley is picked for VP or maybe even wins, or for 2028. But the marginal utility of that is quite low. "Politician overcomes adversity to show they have what it takes" (HT Richard Ben Cramer) just isn't a good fit for the perversities of present moment, esp. in the Republican Party.
