One thing that people don't quite grasp about Mastodon is how it keeps free of hate-speech, and why it is so very different from Corporate-owned platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, who claim to have set policies against hate, yet clearly do the complete opposite in action.

It's all about weeding out the roots. Community moderation of Federated instances is organic. When a problem comes up it's plucked, but when a problem is regular the instance is blocked. This ends it at the root.
