Both our App Store and System Updater permit any network by default. Both are fully compatible with using a VPN. If you set configured them to only use an Unmetered network and the VPN marks itself as Metered when on an Unmetered network, that would explain the problem. A huge portion of the GrapheneOS userbase are using VPNs and having no issues with updating the OS and apps. This indicates an issue with your VPN app or the configuration of the device with it.",
