I just came in from the backyard with the dogs. Happy Bear and I played ‘fetch’ with his orange ‘squeaky bone.’ He loves running back and forth, grabbing it in his jaws and making it squeak. Meanwhile, Frenchie lounged on one of the lawn chairs. I don’t think he could have been more comfortable.
Anyway, after a time, I got tired and decided to bring them into the house. I called them by name and said, “Come on, guys. Time to go in.”
That was all I said. And only once.
Happy stopped chewing his bone and Frenchie perked up his ears. In a moment they trotted after me in obedience. And as we walked into the house, I said to myself, “It sure is nice when they obey.”
And the Holy Spirit spoke into my thoughts: “Yes, it is, isn’t it?”
He wasn’t talking about the dogs.
