Every year some tech publication would headline with "The Year of the Linux Desktop!" Even as M$ continues to release every increasingly shitty operating systems, the Linux Desktop market continues to be a minority. Part of the reason for it, I think, is the incredibly decentralized and fractured nature of the Linux landscape. The lack of standards is holding it back.
