Also today in #DoctorWho history, we have Deep Breath:
After Clara speaks to the Eleventh Doctor on the phone, the Twelfth Doctor speaks:
DOCTOR: He asked you a question. Will you help me?
CLARA: You shouldn't have been listening.
DOCTOR: I wasn't. I didn't need to. That was me talking. You can't see me, can you? You look at me, and you can't see me. Have you any idea what that's like? I'm not on the phone, I'm right here, standing in front of you. Please, just, just see me.
Many see this as a #trans allegory: the Doctor has changed - transitioned, regenerated - and his best friend refuses to see them as the same person. Clara initially struggles with acceptance. This may not be what Moffat had in mind when he wrote it, but it fits! I also love the scene between Vastra and Clara.
