The ebook price conundrum is thus: because many people undercharge their books to get more sales numbers, people perceive a normal price range as overcharging. But at the same time, the same people who bulk buy or download cheap ebooks wind up not valuing or reading them. The response to this by some is to give away their books for free. And thus the price threshold perception is lowered even more.
I'd rather the people buying my books valued them. And I'd rather creatives be (more than) adequately compensated for their creative, intellectual, emotional labour.
