The specs were written entirely by Google members, that's why. IIRC Mozilla had concerns about the security thread model of this feature, but, since other browsers support it and no attacks were reported to use it, I guess Mozilla will implement it (like they did with many other Google proposed APIs which they had concerns with, like compression streams).
