npub1w737tq6e24kvhsllzyvkdlgdvf5x53rqejgqzexfezd2zds2x3lsur2zce (npub1w73…2zce) I think of "give up" as stopping any effort to complete or achieve a goal before an insurmountable problem is experienced. It doesn't have to be an epic situation. I gave up on some hobbies not because there was no chance I'd learn them, but because I decided not to spend time learning how to do them.
I think of "surrender" as being like the longer meaning behind the Qowat Milat expression, "choose to live." It's not always about life or death. But that, ""The path you are on has come to an end." That sometimes a situation is just me running into a figurative wall over and over. I could keep doing that, or realize I was only going to keep banging my head on that same wall, and choose to change my path. Not necessarily abandoning that goal, but coming at it in a different way.
The tough part is trying to figure out when surrender is appropriate. Am I sure that I've tried everything possible? Should I keep trying a certain way, just because others say so or others have been successful using that methodology? And, ultimately, forgiving myself, despite any outside pressure, for choosing to take a new path.
Mainly, it's the saying, "adulting is hard." Lol.
