yeah, that merge was very bad, not because of the political contention, but because it was underdiscussed but more important no client had implemented it so it was not descriptive of anything.
It's a process I guess, to me there are two interesting aspects to having this repo:
1) the NIP process is useful: you don't have to convince anyone, but it often sharpens your thinking and helps see what you might have missed; improving your own design and narrowing the scope / noticing scope creep / tight data model coupling.
2) see if someone is doing the same/something adjacent to what you're working on -- being compatible is very useful.
