I can't imagine the fairly steady rise in housing costs suddenly falling off a cliff. And that's the crux of the issue - housing (and most things) have steadily increased at a steady, fairly low rate for, I don't know, the last 75 years?, while wages have stagnated. As with most things, it's about capitalists vs workers, not homeowners vs non-homeowners.",
