Religions are not "ethical" systems, every religion is enforcing moral codes, they are institutionalizing morality. Ethics are the foundation of Civilization, entirely free of cultural and religious interpretations of behavior and interaction. Ethics are a forever good force, while morality is forever corrupt by the interpretation of the individual.
I wish people would understand this, and politicians who try to confuse the two be tried and found guilty of subversion.
