It's crazy that 1000 people have already tried out Onyx. I think this just speaks to the beauty of FOSS and the open network that nostr facilitates.

I didn't ask permission, I didn't need to request API keys, I didn't even need to upload to anywhere, I just let github run the build script that was already provided with the original Amethyst code.

Keeping up to date should be fairly simple, and part of that is to the testament that Amethyst really is a great client with a great dev behind it, though rather opinionated, at the cost of some angry users.

But that's the beauty of it all. Community ran forks help alleviate that pressure while still caring about the main solution. Ideally, these censorship concerns are removed from the main client. But until then the fork will live on. It will allow people to experiement, find out that spam and shadowbans aren't as needed as they might have been before, and perhaps that experimenting and traction will inspire the removal of them in the future. Either way there's still not an Fdroid Amethyst version and I plan on providing that anyways with Onyx.

I thought maybe 10 people will care, maybe 100 are concerned about censorship, but it's cool to see an even bigger magnitude than that in such a short time. Thank you for caring.
