I post about this a while ago, in that I actually used to think that the concept of pressuring doctors and running them ragged was a sort of stressful test to ingrain patterns of thought and high-impact decisions in them deeply while having a safety net of people double checking them

I no longer think that viewpoint has any real basis in reality, if it ever did. It's more like the comfort of paranoia (someone is in charge!)
