And just guessing, but you seem to not care for the old stuff, or the new stuff, but the middle stuff. No? If not, you'll have to be more specific about the canon of spirit you're talking about.

My personal favorite are the spirits that you summon with a human jawbone - they have to tell you the truth. Of course, they still might deceive you with true words. Very Delphi-like. Gotta be on your toes.
