There are many parallels between the CA and HI fires: HI failed to learn anything from the fires in CA, just as PG&E failed to learn from the fire experience of San Diego Gas & Electric years earlier, but the idea that smart meters cause fires is ridiculous. Both the CPUC and CalFire are quite happy to go after PG&E for fires, and have done so repeatedly, but no one has ever traced a fire back to a smart meter and that's with maybe 10M smart meters deployed.
