I understand the complex geopolitical arrangements between allies but a real friend walks away when a friend begins to commit genocide, and a best friend tells them to stop. It is no good for anyone to naturalize that level of violence and depravity and I wish Americans understood how people outside of America, with few exceptions, are used to profoundly less violence.
