You know, I spent 6 years doing a PhD on postwar Lebanon and I ended up concluding that the term postwar is not accurate, that there hasn’t really been a ‘post’ period yet. In the past year I’ve stopped believing that the term is even accurate for Europe.
I don’t think we would be seeing these many parallels to the pre-WWII ‘interwar’ period today if we had actually moved beyond the ideologies that led to WWII in the first place.
